Broncos trio Milford, Hunt and Jarrod Wallace were among the eight players to cop 12-month bans from the Queensland Origin team for breaking curfew during a development camp. Of the eight players to be rubbed out of contention, Milford, Hunt and Roosters hitman Dylan Napa were considered to be the closest to making their Origin debuts this year. Hunt played the entire match but was scratchy in Saturday night’s 48-26 trial win over the Cowboys in Bundaberg. Milford was at his electric best, scoring a try and setting up two more in an exciting 50-minute cameo off the bench. Bennett praised Milford’s performance but wasn’t keen to be drawn on the Origin controversy. “It’s got nothing to do with the Broncos,” he said. “You’ve all said enough about it. I don’t want to add any more to it. “It hasn’t impacted on the Broncos. “We’re just getting on with life here.” The one-match suspension Hunt received from a dangerous tackle in last year’s grand final loss means he won’t play against until Round 1 against Parramatta. The halfback has been talked about as a possible successor to retired captain Justin Hodges and led the team on to Salter Oval on Saturday night despite favourite Corey Parker being in the side. When asked why Hunt captained the side and if he was a chance of earning the role fulltime, Bennett was at his straight-shooting best. “Because I said he would be,” he said. “You’ll just have to wait.” The Broncos will play Wigan at the World Club Series on February 20.
