Are we getting good value ?? League was traditionally played during the day until the introduction of modern lighting. This concept has been in place for years now with twilight/night games the norm. What has come along with better/more camera angles and high quality fields are the prevailing conditions. I acknowledge the conditions are the same for both but it's not unfairness between competing teams rather unfairness for both the players and fans. Players practice one way then have to put those same skills back in the drawer when put on the ice rink on game night. We are being served an inferior product that can and should be improved on. Chief amongst these conditions is moisture or dew on the fields. Everyone knows the meteorlogical reasons but no-one has acted on it. My contention is that due to a somewhat callous disregard for the fans and players this issue was never acted on. I believe the standard that's achievable on the skating rinks provided is far below what we could be given. I don't think for one minute that games will be moved back to daylight timeslots but with the technological advances made in recent years , surely the fields could be made safer and generally better . Removing the dew can be done and equipment for that purpose is readily available. If the playing surface can be improved ( even marginally ) then surely it would be worth the initial expense given we are viewing a multi-million dollar product. What other 'business' with such a massive target would provide an arena that detracts from their product ?
