I don't necessarily think signing another prop forward is a bad idea. The Gold Coast have always struggled with the physical side of the game so bringing in an experienced rugged option would surely bolster them and allow them to play Des' style of game. I just don't think Reagan Campbell-Gillard on a three year deal is the right choice. He's not the most mobile option and while he has a big hit in him, he's largely known for his carries up the middle which the Gold Coast don't have issues with. It also remains to be seen how they'll be able to replace Liu and Clark who were effective at laying a platform. While he was getting on, Liu was still the best link player in their forward pack and nobody had a better play the ball than Clark. If they went ahead and signed James Fisher-Harris for example, I'd say it was a great signing and exactly the type of player they needed. RCG? I didn't want him here and I think anything over a 1 year veteran contract is asking for trouble. It's just one of several that leaves me scratching my head. I enjoy watching him play, but I don't get the logic in signing AJ Brimson until 2030. The Titans had to make a tough decision there and needed to consider AJ's injury history before commiting long term. Besides, who were they competing with? Why make such a long term commitment? On the bright side, I'm looking forward to the Carter Gordon experiment. It's all well and good to say 'sign a half! sign a hooker!' but it's not like you can go out and sign Nathan Cleary. If the Gold Coast play this right, they could very well have a quality halves combo in Gordon/Harrison by 2026.
