AUSTRALIAN rugby league star Jarryd Hayne was one of three players involved in a shooting in the early hours of yesterday morning shortly after being refused entry to a nightclub in Sydney's red-light district.
                                                  
Hayne, along with two other Parramatta Eels players, Junior Paulo and Weller Hauraki, were turned away from The Vegas Hotel in Kings Cross about 3.45am after staff believed the three were drunk.

The three are understood to have headed instead to a nearby McDonald's restaurant and NSW police are investigating whether the players were involved in a fight that subsequently spilled on to the road.

About half an hour later, an unidentified man is believed to have fired a single shot at the three after a brief argument in a nearby street.
