Education at a young age as mentioned earlier is a good start. Limiting young players exposure to alchohol and drugs to more controlled enviroments would also help. Finally, when senior players err, the punishment should be Swift and brutal, regardless of their standing (Napa included). These things can only happen if everyone, from the NRL players down to junior clubs and players buys into it and also are allowed their input. Going to a junior rugby league game and seeing drunk parents and suppoters yelling abuse at officials and players is the start of a very slippary slope that leads us to this. It informs those young players of everything that is wrong with the game but is often tolerated for the revenue the alchohol brings.
