The common statistic thrown around to "prove" that American police are racist is that African Americans only make up 13% of the U.S population, yet make up over 30% of all police shooting fatalities. What they fail to mention is the enormous discrepancy in the rate at which violent crimes are committed by African Americans comparatively to the other 87% of the population. If the statistics show anything, it's that African Americans are [I]actually[/I] treated with more leniency than Caucasians when it comes to violent crimes. You'll note that more than 11x more African Americans are reported for violent crimes compared to white individuals, yet only 6x more African Americans are arrested for violent crimes. [/QUOTE]
