I think it was really exacerbated by adding 4 teams at once. I know they wanted to stagger it out more but covid kinda messed with that in that they wanted to play the catch up season in the same year so it left no time to do anything There's an agreement to increase to 12 teams within the life of the recent CBA, which concludes in 2027, but it's up to the NRL. They want to expand supporter bases to the women’s league, and the fans of clubs without a team deserve to have their team. But like I’ve said even for this year I’m a little concerned about depth and making sure the competition remains elite, otherwise you may as well just put almost all the QCup/NSW cup teams in together and give them an NRL logo each to adopt if the talent is spread too wide. Perhaps they're banking on a 'rising tide floats all boats' kind of approach with more 'reserve grade' players playing against higher quality opponents and professional training and conditiong will force improvement while boosting the talent pool with Rugby and international players until the juniors coming through become the majority when they can properly become full-time footy players it’s tough seeing the amount of player movements - just look at the Dragons and Eels sides this year with each only having re-signed 6 players each from last season - and feeling like it’s not worth getting invested in, but a lot of these girls weren’t playing for their actual clubs so it makes sense they go back to Cronulla, Cowboys, the Tigers etc. Much like I assume the men did when new NSWRL clubs were introduced. Having said that even when there was only 4 and 6 teams most were still turning over about 50% of their roster from the year before With multi year contracts and the advance towards full time professionalism with longer seasons and better pay, the player movement musical chairs won’t be as drastic hopefully for the very casual Broncos viewer, players like Ciesiolka, Ferguson, Fogavini and Larsson will ideally be the future of the team (with Lenarduzzi and Robbo still here for a number of years yet) and are very good players, so they’re ones to keep your eye on imo. We also have Broughton for the next two seasons and hopefully we can keep Romy and Destiny as well.
