[QUOTE="GCBRONCO, post: 2820542, member: 1808"] Langer was also being targeted by some of the best forwards in the game's history and played in State of Origin against the best barely into his career with many doubters including team mates believing he could even handle it especially defensively. Halves will always be targeted in the line regardless of the side they are in or the forward pack they play behind and I have seen better defending halves behind far worse forward packs then our present pack. I don't recall making the comparison but if we must go here, Lockyer was also a 5/8th converted to fullback when he went from being an up and coming 5/8th player playing the odd game where and when needed to finally became a regular full time first grader at the Broncos in 1997, Lockyer adjusted to it and didn't look back and he certainly didn't have two full seasons worth of first grade experience prior to him to making the adjustment. I'm hardly surprised come later in his career it would take him time to adapt back to 5/8th when the majority of your senior career has been spent at fullback. My concern for Milford is that come contract time the expectations will be much higher, with Hunt's departure the club will be even more determined to retain him and with that comes a sizable increase in the contract amount He isn't the rookie any longer that people are making him out to be and will be even more important in the spine then he currently is. When the Broncos brought Walters to the club as a long term replacement for Lewis, the expectations of Langer's importance in the side didn't just stop suddenly they only grew, with age and experience comes expectations of your performance in first grade to grow you can't avoid it. Does he have the ability and time to turn it around? Sure, but I'd rather do what we can to help Milford address the issue right now to put him in the best possible position to be ready for the task then just believe in blind faith it will just come good.
