Paul Kent stated on NRL 360 that the Broncos will not make the top 8 for at least 3 years.

Are we that far gone that we can't recover for 3 years?
 
Paul Kent is an idiot ... ant that will be proved when we do in fact make the 8 again, sometime before the 3 year mark
 
Given. But do you think their could be any truth in his statement? He also stated we are a club in decline whilst others improve at fast pace.
 
if i wasnt a bronco fan i'd probably be inclined to say the same thing. we hvaent looked capable since mid last year and if you werent a broncs fan you'd think theres no sign of it improving.

"dour" facts:
no halves
hooker is not in the top 8 hookers in the nrl.
fb is a merry go round. current one is leaving.
leadership doesnt appear to be there.
cant score points.
we havent produced/found a new talent at all in the last two years.

We are certainly on the decline. I don't think the board will allow it to extend too long though.
 
If we are to improve how much can our players improve. Hodges, Parker, Wallace, Thaiday won't have any improvement. The younger guys maybe have 10% improvement in them now that they have reached 80-100 games.
What is the attraction to play for us ? Besides money. No big name coach or player......
 
if you add Dugan to our team and a quality half/hooker (which apparently they are hunting for) not only are we a top 8 team but we would be pushing for a top 4 place
 
We are probably a decent half and fullback away from finals. If we do get Dugan we could even scrape into the 8 this year with some luck. Making the 8 is overrated. I want premierships not just making the 8
 
yes you could say the same thing about alot of sides.

we are pretty similar to the dragons at the mometn i reckon.

the thing is we are more likely to do something about it one way or another.
 
Paul Kent is an a grade wanker and as bad as the start of the year has been I still think we have a fairly good chance of making the 8, albeit just scraping in and making no impact in the finals.
 
It's an inescapable fact that the Broncos are more than a football team (even though it sticks in my throat to say it) we have the biggest brand in the NRL. The powers-that-be won't sit idly by and watch something wither on the vine that has taken 25 years of blood sweat and tears to build. If we don't start getting results soon there will be changes and, much though I like and admire Hook, sitting in front of a mike after a loss sucking his teeth and giving curt 3 or 4 word answers to questions won't cut it. There has to be, and I totally believe that there will be, improvement ... oh and just for the record ... if Paul Kent is so knowledgable maybe should take all of the experience he gained in his only first grade game, and pass it on to lesser mortals who have the guts to go out and coach rather than criticise from the safety and relative anonimity of a desktop computer
 
WTF does Paul Kent know? He's just a shit talker Journalist who speaks shit to get a reaction (or page views/advertisement money). He's in a similar vein to Mundine.

IIRC he was also saying Barba won't play well this year.
 
If the current administration has any shred of the values that this club has sought to uphold then they wont let it happen.

Get the best coaches and players available and get on with it, if you have to wait for them then so be it.
 
Rugby League is far too erratic of a sport to make predictions on it 3 years ahead of time, making the top 8 this season is improbable but things will improve, the necessary changes will be made from top to bottom, even the janitor who cleans the change rooms will be in strife. A one team town in a city of 1.7 million in which 98% of the working class are rugby league mad should not be going through the current form slump it is experiencing but things will get better. 3 consecutive years of missing the playoffs? Won't happen, they might even win the comp in that time.
 
Everything about the Broncos needs to change.

We thinking too small, need to align ourselves with Carlos Slim and buy out the entire competition so we can set our own rules and abolish the salary cap. We'll then sign GI, Smith, JT...cancel that, we'll use the money to invent a time machine and bring back Lockyer, Lazarus & even bring in Jo-E because who cares about morals when you're winning right?

In fact, with Carlos' money, let's just pay the referees to help us win. Hand us all the premierships, it won't matter because we're winning and when we see Bernie round the water cooler we won't have to put up with his Cowboys supporting ass.
