[QUOTE="Dave, post: 2156283, member: 1763"] What's in it for NRMA as a major sponsor of the Broncos? I am a season member but I don't use NRMA. I have mates who support Manly and Parra but have no interest at all in Delmege or Pirtek. Sponsorship is a marketing tool at best, a CEO justifying his love for a particular sporting team at worst. It's all about business and promoting your brand (and maybe some sly deductions at tax time) Lihir Gold will produce about 1,000,000 ounces of gold this year - It costs them about $400 to produce an ounce but the current price of gold is about $730. On pure multiplication alone and not getting involved in costs etc 1,000,000 ounces of gold is about $330,000,000.00 in gross profit this year alone and this is one gold mine in PNG - If a couple of the mines got together and wanted to support the NRL side (and I'm not saying they would) I doubt cost would be an issue, nor would eating into their profits - 2 or 3 million is probably about a tenth of their travel budget or 2% of their machinery budget for the year. Probably discussing something that will never happen though - even if PNG had a red hot consortium willing and ready to spend the money required to get a competitive organisation into the NRL I doubt our current administrators would pull their heads out of the sand for long enough to even consider the idea - it's way too far from Sydney - It's bad enough going to Townsville!!!!
