Same, but I don't think we were "really poor" or at least, any worse or better than previous games. I think it's a reminder those games could just as easily have gone the same way as this one. And, as you point out, this one could have just as easily have gone the same way as the previous. Resilience, attitude, luck, rub of the green, whatever. Some are saying it was the loss we needed to remind us we're fallible, but I think the coach and players have been more realistic than fans about our success to date. I keep saying this, but I'll say it again, I think our attack needs work. That's what ultimately let us down last night in a highly physical match that we managed to come out of uninjured, other than a minor head knock. Looked to me like Atkins was trying to favour being less pedantic over borderline infringements and marginal passes to let the game flow. I like that a lot in theory, but fans inevitably cook up conspiracies when they can't understand why something minor doesn't get called back. And then when a touchie runs in, that goes out the window. I thought we might have got away with a couple, and so did they. Putting Riki on report for a facial - and leaving it to the MRC - is probably the way to go to for niggly shit that isn't worth a match deciding penalty maybe, but still needs to be stamped out. Taupau's sucked because it could've handed us a golden point victory, and it could've gone a whole bunch of different ways, but I think the outcome was consistent with the overall arch of the NRL trying to get players to take more care. I'm sure we'd be howling a different tune if that were Reynolds bleeding out on the tryline. It was also right of the MRC not to charge it. Many are saying we lost it on attitude. I don't know if that's really the case. I think our combinations need work, and that can come. Glass distinctly half full. Until further notice.
