I put this loss down to a few tactical errors and issues with the gameplan that the coaching staff came up with more than anything else. We went away from the attacking mentality that worked for us throughout the season. You could see we played negative, conservative football right from the onset when we went for goal 41 metres out. That was a real attacking opportunity to put pressure on the opposition and with the attacking weapons we have, as well as the Cowboys at times fragile defence, we could of really threatened them and set the tone for the rest of the match. From there on, we never quite put pressure on the Cowboys defence, and we never really got into any attacking field position to threaten the Cowboys. All our tries were off, long range, lucky plays, rather than through our creative attack we played throughout the season. The conservative football took Hunt out of the game completely, as it meant we never got into a position for him to shine, and it meant we didn't play to our strengths and basically nullified our most dangerous player... No wonder he had a quite game compared to his standards. Then once again more negative football when we started defending our lead with 30 mins to go. Everyone knows as soon as you defend your lead, your mentality changes and your basically inviting the opposition back in the game. Instead we should of went on with the job trying to put the Cowboys to the sword. I was baffled at how we didn't even try to score after the 50 minute mark. It's almost like we shut up shop, almost waiting for the Cowboys to snatch it at the death. A four point lead is not one you defend with 50 mins to go...
