Obviously if a player is told he gets the spot round 1 than stops showing up at training you drop them but if you’ve been a coach for 2 seasons at a club and can’t tell who is your round 1 pick for major decisions without needing a full preseason and trials than you might as well pack it in. If a player kick stones because you are honest and upfront and tell them from the beginning you’ll have to force my hand to get a start than you made the right choice not giving them first shot.
