My stance has not changed since Round 6. It is clear that Hook doesn't see it that way and isn't willing to tamper with the spine, especially with the representative season right around the corner. A shame because I believe Hunt would suit our style of play (particularly in defence) but the coach isn't trying to fashion him as a halfback and there are times where Hunt lacks the polish to cut it in first grade. Did anybody else notice Wallace giving Hunt a spray early in the second half against the Rabbitohs? It isn't the first time Wallace has been caught with the ball, turned around and had a few choice words with Hunt. It appeared Wallace wanted Hunt running off him but Hunt just stood back and watched Wallace get absorbed by the defence. It's a shame, because moments like that are what prevent Hunt from being considered a genuine option. Although, and at the risk of sounding like a broken record, the biggest obstacle is that there isn't any barometer in which to judge Hunt as a halfback on since he plays the back-up hooker role. Campaigning for Hunt to play in the halves is like pissing in the wind. Speaking of Hunt, I find it sad when he's out-playing McCullough. Yes, he has the benefit of coming off the bench, which is a much easier proposition but a player of McCullough's stature (at least around the club) shouldn't be out-played by a back-up dummy half with aspirations of playing a different position. I've defended McCullough a number of times, but also believe in calling a spade a spade and I thought he was poor on Friday. He gave us no direction while we were attacking the line and as soon as Hunt came on we looked far more threatening. I can see where pwn is coming from when he says that Macca should be under pressure. It seems like he performs at his best when his position is called into question. I recall his start to 2011 was fairly mediocre, but when he was dropped for disciplinary reasons, he came back and played some of the best footy of his career. If he doesn't find consistensy, I'd like to see Hook at the very least bench him for a game and give Granville a shot. I would say Baptiste given how long he's been apart of our system but it appears he's injured and Granville is in better form (or at least that's the impression I get).
