[QUOTE="Super Freak, post: 2797918, member: 8536"] THE Broncos will rely on James Roberts to bring strike power to their Nines campaign as they prepare to take a star-studded side across the ditch. Brisbane revealed their team — to be coached by Jason Demetriou — late yesterday, with a number of big names in the 18-man squad making it one of the best in the competition. As well as speedster Roberts, the Broncos will take Anthony Milford, Darius Boyd, Matt Gillett, Benji Marshall, Adam Blair, Jordan Kahu, Andrew McCullough and Corey Oates to New Zealand to form what is Brisbane’s strongest Nines team yet. With plenty of playmaking options, Demetriou said he was also looking forward to the “strike” power Roberts could bring across the weekend. While the former Titans centre copped some criticism for a quiet debut season with the Broncos last year, Demetriou said Roberts was having a strong pre-season and finally looked settled. “He’s an exciting player, whether it’s Nines or 13 a side,” Demetriou said. “There will be more space for him to get to show what he can do. “But it’s up to the rest of the boys to get into a position where they can help show the strike player that he is.” Roberts will also be looking to have a successful start to his year on the field after a drunken night out this month led to an NRL investigation. While he was cleared of any serious wrongdoing, the Broncos did express their disappointment in him and it is understood he is keen to repay the club. A number of young guns have also been named in the squad, including teen sensation Gehamat Shibasaki, and Jonus Pearson and Jaydn Su’A, who made their NRL debuts in 2016. The tournament will also be Demetriou’s first time working with the club for a match after joining in the off-season. No skipper has been confirmed for the tournament but Boyd is favourite to take the honours. The Broncos will also play a trial against the Sharks at Redcliffe on Saturday night, with their remaining stars expected to feature.
