There's precedent that the officials must stop play if the trainer indicates that the incident is serious. You may recall an incident with Nene Macdonald a few years back where he broke his ankle, but the ref decided to play on despite calls from the trainer to stop the game (article below). There was outrage from all and sundry, and the refs were promptly dumped.... by highlighting a similar occurrence, except this time with us, we can at least bring the hypocrisy into the spotlight and ask for a please explain as to why the referee decided to not stop the game for a possible neck injury even though our trainers were calling for it.
