Didn't get to watch the game last night and just finished watching it already knowing the score so could watch other things beside the immediate ruck. On at least 3 occasions before the camera had to pan in to the play the ball close up the entire Storm line was already 3-4 steps in front of the ref as the ball hit the ground in the play the ball, all good no penalties. In the second half on the first tackle of one set the Broncos player who received the ball was hit right on the advantage line by 3 Storm defenders one of whom was Welch. This was from a pass from the ground to a player running onto the ball. This means that I'll use Welch as the example can accelerate from a standing start, on grass, after more than 40 minutes of a pretty quick game, to cover 10 m in just on a second. This is equivalent acceleration to Usain Bolt, with spikes and using a starting block on a synthetic track and being fresh from a warm up. It obviously can't happen and the Storm players left early, again all good no penalty. Huge effort by the guys to keep in it with the lopsided six agains and one sided reffing. We absolutely owned their forward pack in the first half and really took a hit when Reynolds came off. Surely Capewell is on borrowed time as a starter. His defence and positioning has become a liability and he looks gassed after about 20 minutes. Surely someone like Hetherington should be in the run on team with Capewell starting on the bench. When in our own half someone needs to get in Reece Walsh's ear about taking the high percentage option and just diving on the ball instead of the low percentage scoop up on the run for a miracle break/try. Besides that he was just shredding the Storm defence with some of his runs. Bellamy looked bleak in their presser because he now knows his team won't be playing in the GF. With our 7 and captain gone early in the game and with the amount of 6 agains his team got gifted and time they were allowed to hold down in the ruck they really should have put us to the sword. Anyway always drives me mad when we lose to the Storm scum but besides a few brain explosions from Herbie and Flegler our effort was outstanding. Also good to see Kev finally starting to get pissed with some of the dud reffing and the useless bunker.
