Keep in mind too that against Penrith the final score doesn’t tell the full story. We were missing half our forward pack (Haas, Carrigan, Flegler), Farnworth, Gamble and we also didn’t have TMM with us either at that stage. Even with those outs, we should have been 12-12 at HT of Staggs doesn’t drop the ball over the line. We also lost Niu to injury in the first half resulting in a team reshuffle in which Penrith ultimately spotted the weakness and put a couple of quick tries on us in a 10 minute period after half time. But I thought had we had our best team on the park we competed with them and that was on their home patch. And they have been destroying everyone they’ve played bar Parramatta. Out of out 4 losses, only the Warriors one looks bad as Panthers, Roosters and Cowboys look like they’ll be top 6 teams this season. We also have a different team since we played those opposition. Only excuse in regards to the Warriors game was we had our entire back row out and Flegler came from suspension rusty and got put on report 4 times. Warriors also managed to somehow beat NQ as well the following week… So overall we should be very happy with where we sit but we need to seal this game whilst the Titans are down on confidence to really seal our strong position heading into origin. Out of the current top 8, we have played 6 of our 11 games against that level of opposition. In contrast the Sharks who are marginally ahead of us have only played 3 of 11 against top 8 opposition. I really want to see how we go against the Storm to see where we really are at against our bogey side. Storm and Cowboys back to back away from home during Origin will be a good litmus test for the run home after origin.
