A bittersweet victory for the Broncos. I thought Anthony Milford had some brilliant involvements in the clash and was really coming into his own before the injury. Footy can be a cruel game and the Broncos are really going to miss him. Souths were well on top of the Broncos physically through out the majority of the contest but their execution of basic set-plays let them down time and time again. In the end, it took a determined run by Sam Burgess at the two weakest defenders and a pin-point kick from Reynolds for them to breach the line. If they could make use of their advantage in the ruck, they would be such a good side but their execution and telegraphed set-plays let them down time and time again. Meanwhile the Broncos did really well to recover from an awful start. That dropped ball by Kodi Nikorima could have been costly but to the credit of the Broncos defence, they absorbed a lot of strong charges by the big South Sydney defence and were able to force turn-overs. It was really good stuff from the forward pack. Another player I want to give a rap to is Jordan Kahu. Even though he just about gave me a heart-attack with that restart, I thought his defence was great on the night and his ability to finish off the Milford kick was vital. I thought the back three played very well for the Broncos and made a big difference in the game. Good, tough win. Let's just hope the Broncos can get over the loss of Anthony Milford and jag some wins together against Canberra, Newcastle and Canterbury.
