To me Oates is a very solid backrower; he runs good lines for his halves, runs decoys when needed and I haven't seen him completely exposed in defence. We also know that he can get through a mountain of work if needed. Oates is signed for the next two years and I don't ever want to see him back on the wing so give him the entire preseason to get himself right for the backrow and if it comes off then we're set.
