Not our best effort but I appreciated the attitude we showed tonight. As the 9 commentators pointed out, I thought the positive mind-set of Hannant really summed the side up. Despite having a demoralising 90m intercept try put on us, Ben seemed really unphased and had this air of confidence the class sides do. For the majority, we played the better territory game and didn't offer Souths many piggybacks out of their own end. On the other hand, Souths discipline really came into question and they took some bad options at times. To their credit, the Rabbitohs defended well and there were plenty sets on their line where the Broncos didn't trouble their formation at all. They should definitely hold their heads up high in that regard. Back to the Broncos, there's obviously a lot to work on still. I'm not too concerned at this stage, but am hopeful to see the boys play their best footy at the right end of the season, as they did last year. For that to happen, I believe our attack needs better formation & we need Wallace & Norman to know the play before the play the ball. I'm getting really frustrated watching Wallace or Norman trotting around like headless chooks and taking the tackle. I believe this side has a lot of points in them and we're only going at about 70% of where we should be. Forwards were 'good' without being great. I thought Civoniceiva made a big difference in his 300th. His runs through the middle are like gold and it really helped us when he was on. McGuire was a deserving MotM, forgot how many times I thought, gee he should be playing Origin ahead of Taylor & Gillett. Parker was in similar company. Te'o had a mixed bag, but I don't mind that from a benchy. Some of his hits and runs were set changers & gave the boys momentum. Still have plenty of question marks on how we use and how we play the pack but I'm fine with showing some patience in it until the post-Origin season. If we see Gillett play prop against Manly I'm going to lose my s**t. Might as well rap the backs too. Strong game from most of them, although the positioning at time annoyed me. Hoffman was bloody gutsy, he's going to be a sore man this weekend! Copley continues to provide us with plenty of value from dummy half. Reed had his best game in a long time, some of his defensive plays were fantastic and it was great to see him show GI the sideline like that. That's the Reed we all know and love! Hodgey was one of our best, even though his stuttery dummy half runs give me the s**ts at time. TL;DR - Not our best performance but we showed a good amount of patience against a resolute South Sydney defensive line.
