Maybe Broncos fans today accept where the club is at, and the time a rebuild might take, but it is still a club that is used to glory, and plays in front of biggest home crowds in the NRL. When I watch footage of Dearden in his high school years, I am reminded of Matt Orford. Not his kicking game, but his running and passing. I take it that scouts looked at that, and thought 'that Orford style cuts it in the NRL' whereas the styles of a Sam Walker were probably thought to be too risky and cavalier to translate to the NRL (well at least until Peter Vlandys changed the rules).
