I keep saying it but the key to better organisation is timing and rhythm. We need to stop this fucking brain-dead dumbfuck notion that 5th tackle plays need NEED NEED NEED to be done at HYPERLIGHT SPEED. ****, if I had my way my boys would all know that when the ref screams "held" it's time to slowly get to your feet, check your dummy half is in position, make eye contact with the ref and when happy, roll the ball back as normal. Why? There's then only two guys with any hope in hell of getting to the kicker who has had plenty of time to pick his target and get the chase teams defence line synchronised. A slow ptb on the fifth totally negates offside from the 10 metre perspective, it removes all of them from harassing the kicker as they must remain stationary at least 15+ metres away from the kicker and will never get there. If you really watch the motion of a play you can plainly see the defenders time their thrust forward with the action of the guy playing the ball. What I'm pointing out here during normal play is both attack and defense have a rhythm during a set of six (a majority of times) and what tends to happen( freeze frames will tell you this) is you see the entire defence line is already 2-3 metres closer by the time the ball actually touches the dummy half's fingers. They get the jump BUT after watching this for years they don't get the jump ( guilty feet have got no rhythm) when you slow the fifth. I totally ***** their rhythm, their timing because you make everyone stand still, no fully coiled, rolling with you response. Apologies for rant...OMSAC
