I was thinking of this the other day when reading a column by Steve Mascord. He's based in England now and mainly comments on the ESL. Occasionally he weighs in and gives his two cents worth on things concerning the NRL. I'm starting to realise they do things a bit differently over there. His articles are full of zingers. Not sure if it was at a press conference but there was the one about the Wigan coach saying he'll 'hook' any of his players who fake an injury. In the NRL, I remember Matthew Elliott or maybe Brian Smith at a press conference saying from now on they'll encourage their players to stay down to entice the video ref to have a look. There was another one about the Hull coach at full time after one of his players was sent off. Not sure what the player did but the coach said “I’ve no sympathy. It was a pathetic effort. He’s going to miss a lot of games and deserves it." I can't imagine any NRL coach talking like that.
