Shit went against us early on and we refused to try and build any pressure... NAS had his way out on the wing (he's 120kg and runs through props so why wouldn't he) and BSmith put in a vintage performance that he's barely been able to do this year. Maybe if Cobbo gets that kick clean he runs away for a try 30secs into the game... maybe if Staggs passes the ball to Cobbo we get another try early on. Instead it ended up being that Riki drops that short ball from Reynolds and we basically don't see the ball again until the second half. Bellamy went risky by playing BSmith for 50mins from the start (he hasn't been doing that this year), NAS for 60mins on an edge (don't think I've ever seen NAS on an edge) and Tui starting. His bench was light, but he went all in with his starting pack. We turned up early on (somewhat), but we can't play a storm style in defence against the storm. They're the experts and we come in with zero line speed and hit with zero impact. We don't put any pressure on the opposition's attack if there's no defensive pressure. They don't care about your tackling or your pressure, because there is none... they can roll out their game plan like a training run. Knights completed at 86% last week... they barely made an error and spent the game basically inside our 20m, because we couldn't force any errors through our defence. It's the biggest improvement in the cowboys game... their defence is fast line speed and high impact. They end up scoring tries because they force the opposition into errors. They're happy to kick long early, because it means they get to bash them for another set. Our line speed and first contact is non-existent and we concede 80m sets... even on early kicks.
