AFL is actually played in multiple countries and is an extremely popular sport in Ireland, albeit with different rules but of course you knew all this. Regardless, AFL is FAR more popular Australia wide than league, it isn’t even close. I wish the NRL was run half as well as the AFL is because then it could be the extremely popular and successful game that it should be. I also made national rep sides for hockey at school, I deadset couldn’t tell you what the rules are today or that I even enjoyed it and that’s fine. Not everyone has to love everything but these ‘I played it this one time at school so know better than anyone else’ kinda of attitude are very reminiscent of bogan supporting philosophies. You don’t like it, that’s fine but I also don’t see why people like you feel the need to bag our supporters who might like both sports.
