To me this is the kind of thing that needs to be illustrated to the NRL. They can sit there and take advice from coaches, NSWRL media and their broadcasters, however all those stakeholders have clear agendas that they are looking for from the game... and ultimately there is no game without the fans yet the fans views are only portrayed after being filtered through the media outlets, after their agenda has been applied (one ref anyone??). The item that doesn't seem to get addressed is the disillusionment of the fans from the game, evidenced by dropping crowds (or lack of growth), drop of juniors, drop of TV audiences. The NRL should be shit scared of these numbers and they are losing touch with the fans base. Media is the primary revenue for the game and are given far too much influence over the game, but it's not like they're going to keep telecasting or writing articles for themselves... if the NRL lose fans the game dies. All a fan wants is their team to be given fair chance in the game... if their team is shit that's on the team, but having the officiating manufacturing and manipulating the flow of a game is outright fraudulent... yet the manufacturing and bias is rife - everyone is aware of the "make up" penalties and the total lottery of the judiciary (media suggest they are speaking for the population as a guise for their agenda "conduit to the people") - "managing of games" where you see a heavy flow of penalties to change momentum for tight contests and better viewing (clear influence on Broncos vs Cows games to be tight) - perceived bias towards teams (rabbitohs, roosters), regional teams needing to be successful (cows, knights, Melbourne, etc.) - no control of the TV schedule (Broncos get night games almost exclusively which will significantly impact their supporter base moving forward) - fairytale premiership... rabbitohs 2014 should have an asterisk it was that bias, and parra look to be well on their way
