**** you, Souths. For some reason, that whole game, I just knew we were going to win. Probably because when we held the ball we were easily able to get in to attacking positions, and in their red zone they were shit defensively. We probably used up every ounce of luck we had, but seriously, how many bullshit bad calls have we copped over the last couple of years, calls that have definitely cost us games. Well for once we got some calls - we didn't get all the calls, I reckon we copped just as many bad ones as they did, ours just came at the right times. Now to my weekly Ref Gripes: 1) There was a point in the first half where Souths were all over us in the ruck and kept putting their hands on the ball or the arm carrying the ball when we went to play it. Finally, on the 4th tackle or something, the ref blows it. He says, pretty much word for word, "that's the second time in that set". So the ref knew it had been going on. WHY NOT PENALISE THEM THE FIRST TIME? Fucking discretionary penalties, where even if there's foul play, they put the whistle away unless it helps their Game Management directives. 2) Here's the biggy. Souths' momentum in that second half - if anyone is sick enough to watch that game again, look at the 10 Souths are given and look at what we get. You can't tell me there's not something intentional going on. There are a couple of sets in a row there where we are being pulled back literally 15 metres. Remember, the extra 5 metres actually means another 10 - going back and then coming up for the next play. Souths were making easy metres because we were being marched back to a distance where we were tackling the next runner at the same time as we were getting back to the ref. No wonder Fox aren't using the virtual 10 metre graphic, the NRL would have told them to pack it away and destroy it. Can't wait for the celebrations next year when they declare another "Closest Competition Ever" record-breaker.
