If he can't do that he has to go, because instead of being the chemotherapy we need, he will be another tumor, metastasise and spread through the group. Who would replace him you ask? Although I don't rate him as a coach, Walters could probably do a reasonable job of hammering the basics into these kids heads, while also having more support from the Broncos community (read old guard) too.
