Anyone who thinks otherwise is letting emotional attachment cloud their judgement. Kevvie may still get a chance down the track and maybe the board feels he is too close to the current squad and may hinder his judgment in making the hard and ruthless decisions that probably needed to be made earlier with some of the squad.
