It was more to do with how Brown had them setup and playing rather than Ponga sucking. Once Ponga was moved back he was allowed to roam both sides again. At 6 he was stuck on his one side of the field waiting for Pearce to pass it to him. The fullback nowadays is basically like the old school five eighth... so you should be looking to have your best attacking threat there. It's an absurd tactic to limit certain players to certain sides of the field and I believe the only real reason that it started and still remains in the game is to help teams with transitioning from attack to defense ie. If your 6 sits on the left in attack then he can easily fall back into line in defense The fullback is allowed to roam because he defends behind the defensive line ie. No need to transition back into defense. I think that setup is starting to finally go out of vogue and teams are gradually moving to 1 half being a dominant on ball half allowing the other half and fullback to roam around, but I'd say it's still a way off yet, because teams are fine scoring points with just a half and a fullback... having a 7, 6 and 1 all in close proximity can start to become too crowded (just look at the dragons), but teams that can figure out how to get them all clicking will dominate and other teams will copy [/QUOTE]
