It's not a Polynesian thing, I'm certain of that. It's a talent thing. When Dale Copley turns in a shocker I don't care because he isn't a special player and never was. We're getting what we paid for and we knew how mediocre he was. I demand more from Milford because he is physically capable of producing it and he's also being paid accordingly. He has all the physical capability to be elite, we know this is true because he's demonstrated it before. If he's not producing it now then it can really only be psychological. If it's psychological, then at some point in the last few years there should have been some evidence of him working on improving that either internally or through getting assistance from people around him, but there just isn't. If that isn't happening, and it seems incredibly unlikely that it is, then it's either arrogance to not be asking for help, or indifference about his performance. Since he doesn't strike me in anything I've seen to be particularly arrogant, I'm really inclined to think it just doesn't bother him all that much. Benji Marshall certainly called it out, and the writing should have been on the wall back then. How frustrating must it have been for Benji to be an old man, with none of the physical gifts that a younger man like Milford still had at his disposal, to be busting his ass at Redcliffe to get a first grade run whilst Milford was on a million bucks a year and effectively on cruise control and unwilling to make the extra efforts to be the best he could be. Perhaps I don't know what Milford's attitude is really like, but you can't say the same about the likes of Benji Marshall.
