Except no one is making the news for being drunk unless they are high profile. So no, millions of people are not losing their jobs because they hit the piss outside of work hours, this is just not true at all. Companies may have standards, but most of the time, those standards end the minute you clock off, and so long as you are not in your work uniform, or expressly representing your job when you are on the piss, there is very little an employer can do to you for hitting the piss. The only reason Staggs made the news is because he is high profile, otherwise this is a complete non-issue with no repercussions as he obviously didn't do enough to warrant the law getting involved. Again it comes back to lose morals and being a dickhead, nothing more. I am not privy to all the information so anything i say it assumption. However i have been kicked out of venues in my youth for being too drunk, and it had nothing to do with hitting on chicks or causing trouble, i was just a drunk mess and told to leave. I have also been rejected by women before, i hit on them, flirted with them, and got shut down, no big deal, move on. Staggs is being dragged over the coals for something most of us are guilty of at one point or another in our lives, and his work is being threatened by his bosses for it. I get it, there is a certain social expectation that comes with being a footballer but this is getting silly. You got blokes like Corey dickhead Norman out there picking fights and getting into all sorts of trouble and he gets a fine and a slap on the wrist. But god forbid you hit on a girl while drunk and get rejected, well shit, you are not allowed to play football for that sin. I feel the same way about the Haas situation. He copped a suspension for swearing at the cops, yet you have other blokes out there actively assaulting people and getting a slap on the wrist for it. The NRL is a joke.
