As for Cronk, I think he's definitely one of the top 3 NRL halfbacks. However, that's almost completely dependent on being in the same team as Smith, Slater and Inglis. If you plucked him out and put him in Parramatta's line up, he would fail without probably a season to get used to their style of play. He's not a natural, by any means. Hence why I say he's "well drilled" but not a halfback. He's been well trained and coached and drilled to be able to play halfback for Melbourne Storm, and he would work in rep players where at least 2 of the 3 I mentioned are selected too. Am I selling him short? Maybe, but I have seen very little from him to suggest he's naturally good at reading the play or actioning a "plan B" if their usual clinical game plan is being nullified.
