That there is exactly the problem with rugby league, particularly in NSW. Their view is "if that's what we've always got then that's what we should always aim for". You haven't thought that maybe crowds should be growing 100 years on? It's like a quote Wayne Bennett loves. If you always do what you always did, you'll always get what you always got. NSW clubs rely on their leagues clubs. They rely on poker machines. They rely on their core little group of misfits that will throw bottles or tackle a referee. Rather than working on a new way to attract local fans, they take games away and those same nitwits follow them. Instead of marketing within their own districts to try and get everyone interested in their club and wanting to come to the footy, they'll look for some gimmick to attract fans - eg, double header, or spend $100 on a poker machine and we'll have group sex with you. NSW clubs, with a couple of exceptions, are poorly run, amateurish, incompetent and a drain on the resources of the clubs that are actually doing well. As for your claim that the Broncos should sell out Suncorp Stadium every week, I actually agree with you. Crowds in Brisbane have never been the same since Super League. They've been better since we went back to Suncorp Stadium but IMO still not good enough. The Broncos are, in a way, like the Sydney clubs thinking "Well, this is better than we were getting 10 years ago so we must be alright". Seriously, the Broncos are the best, most marketable sporting franchise in Australia and there should be a frickin' waiting list to get memberships. There's not. And that comes down to apathy and complacency from the Broncos organisation. It's also notable now that the Gold Coast Titans' crowds have dwindled this year compared to last season. Seem to get 16000 or so on average at their boutique stadium. The problem isn't unique to Sydney. It's just Sydney is the most graphic example of rugby league's total and utter incompetence.
