Hey everyone, pretty new to BHQ, but thought I'd thrown one up

Wondering what people would like to see in NRL (and why).

An idea that was thrown around was the 6 point try if scored under the sticks. I like this idea as it speeds up the game heaps (some kickers take up to 1:30 (Soward) for the simplest kick right in front). Further it would encourage stronger defense right under the sticks.

Also and in tandem, why not video-ref every try? We have the technology, if its clear cut, it need only take a single view, that was certain refs who take it upon themselves not to check anything get taken out of the equation.

Hope ya'll have some insightful posts

Video ref every try? You've got to be kidding right? No disrespect, but that is a horrible, horrible idea!!! In theory, as you said, "if its clear cut" it would only take a single view but please, they never do that. On the contrary I think they shoudl get rid of the video ref and only use it for offsides and groundings on tries.

The 5 mtr rule brought back. Turn Forwards into forwards, make them work hard. Also from that you would get deep back lines with IMO an improved running game.

Scrum becoming a contest, hookers would have to be good at something other than passing and cheek dummy half runs.

And the magic sponge on the side line. Man that thing was the shit.

Re: video ref reviewing every try. It's a good idea in princple but it will only slow the game down. I'd rather see less of the video ref, as mentioned above for groundings and offside. And limit the number of replays because some just take far too long when one view has clearly shown what has happened we still see more replays because they're looking for reasons to disallow it.

I'd like the see more incentives for season members. Something NRL wide to make us feel more appreciated.

And touch judges who do their jobs. Far too many miss forward passes.

And I'd like to see Manly kicked out.

Just because.

5 min sin bin.

No interchange.

More daytime games. Maybe not every Saturday but at least one Saturday afternoon a month.

6 interchanges per game.

Once you've gone off you can't come back on

Satuurday afternoon games would be great IMO..

Real scrums would be tops, this would also help with bringing back the biff.

In theory yes but in Yawnion they waste so much time with resetting scrums, and we still reset them even with non-competitve scrums!

Amen to that. And if they keep missing forward passes/knock ons they should have to pay for their entry to grounds because they're spectators like the rest of us for 99% of the game

6 point wouldn't give incentive to defend better, if they score under the sticks it's guaranteed 6 points anyway, has a kicker every missed from directly infront? I doubt it

And please **** no, I would stop watching league if i had to put up with video refs like replay russel after every try is scored, imaging the broncos winning 60-0 with replay russel as vid ref, the game would take 4 hours.

The only changes i want is sack video refs, the product is pretty good tbh, most games I watch I find very entertaining.

That's why it should be six point for a try under the sticks, remove something from the game that adds nothing - if the kickers always get it, doesn't it seem like a needless formality??? leaves more time for rugby league

However, as i think it has been mentioned, always going to the video ref, I still like it as an idea, in theory - but considering the video refs we have, not something that would work

Only change I'd like to see is that you have to have control of the football in order to score a try. Definition being, have it in your hand(s)/arm(s), in control, and plant it securely.

So:
- run the ball over the try line and score
- catch a bomb on the full and score
- pick up a grubber and place it (eg like Folau did for his 3rd try on Friday)

The following would be no-tries:
- dive on the ball with body (Lyon lolz)
- dive on a loose ball on the ground with your hands/arms. You have to pick it up and plant it.

Defenders can still dive on the ball and force it with any part of their upper body to nullify a ball in goal and force a line drop out.

I think that'd stop the few bullshit tries like the Lyon one the other week, plus require a bit more skill on the part of kickers and chasers.

And holding it. None of this "His finernail pushed it ever so slightly" "TRY"

Yep as I said "control". Not "no separation"...
