Okay, as promised... Note that the averages are different for each type of stat, to reflect more accurately the actual output. Offensive stats: - Run average p/min - Tackle Break and Offloads are averages p/run Defensive stats: - Errors, Penalties Tackles and Missed Tackles average p/min - 1 on 1 and ineffective tackles average p/tackle The green cells highlight better stats for Gillett, while the red ones are worse. Simply: Green = Gillett GOOD! :top: Red = Gillett BAD! White = Same First the comparison to the middle ruck players / locks / props: Offense: Defense: From the runs and tackles averages, it's clear that he doesn't have the work ethic of these players. He has however a higher try scoring/assist ability, better discipline, more effective runs, both in meters gained as well as tackle breaks, and while his ineffective/missed tackles are a touch below par, the amount of 1 on 1 tackles he does is practically double of the rest, which is always a sure way to get your missed tackle up. Still, it is obvious that he doesn't really belong in this category of hard toilers. So let's look at the fringe second rowers and how they stack up... Offense: Defense: Well... There isn't single player you can say is overal better than Gillett, because they either will have better attacking stats (Ma'u, Taumalolo for example) and worse defensive/discipline stats, or the other way around. What does it mean really? Of all the names ventured to be much better than Gillett... none of them really can claim a clear cut advantage. I'd say that in the NRL world where he competes amongst another 60 or so second rowers, that places him well at the top, just good enough for ISC...
