I mean, look at some of the recent feel-good stories that have reinvigorated clubs over the past 5 years; Cowboys 2015, Sharks 2016, Melbourne 2017, Roosters 2018/19. All clubs with either poor fan bases and membership numbers or from regions where the game needs a foothold. This year it is the Eels who, while not struggling for members, still haven't had a premiership for a very long time and have been pretty poor for basically the entire 2010s. Now with a new Brisbane club scheduled, I expect the Broncos to have some notably dark times ahead, unless this season is to gauge the ratings around a poorly performing Broncos team.
