And that's what it comes down to. Your behaviour is bound by whatever your choice of employment in life dictates. Unfortunately for footballers the goal posts have moved. 20 years ago this sort of stuff was just expected and accepted, and no harm done. Women wouldn't make a complaint about this because back then they knew there was almost no chance of anything being done and it'd just be pointless heart ache. The latter situation is improving, and so it should, but in turn it means the freedom to booze and bonk as desired is now a thing of the past. Footballers are now obliged to stack up against society's moral expectations. You can cry about that all you like, but that's a fact. I don't think there's anything wrong with going out with mates and getting drunk. If I was a professional sportsman though, I probably wouldn't, not during the finals at least because this'd be my "time to shine". I hate the after effects of a big night. But the days of picking up randoms for stuff is just gone. It's so easy for someone to cry rape, or even just go public, especially if the player is attached. Look at Wayne Carey and the shit that follows him around because he can't keep it in his pants? Party? Fine. Drink? Fine. Sex romps? OK, so long as you know the motives of all involved and are careful of the consequences. But then, as others have said, they're 21. And drunk. Brains don't work for kids that young. So in that case, avoid the sex romps altogether. That's my advice, and I'm sure that's the advice of the clubs, the NRL, and most sports psychologists too!
