The same goes for the opposite transition, an amateur male sprinter that's not ranked in the top 1,000 in the world could "transition" in to the female equivalent event and break every world record in the books. The world record for the women's 100 metre sprint is 10.49 seconds - I just looked it up, there is nearly 6,000 recorded faster times by a man, many of which were by amateurs.
