THE absence of the club’s State of Origin stars opened the door for a host of Brisbane young guns to impress on the NRL stage. We run the rule over how the Broncos rookies fared against the Wests Tigers. Jaydn Su’A Brisbane’s youngest ever run-on forward was the strongest of the Baby Broncos quartet. He showed plenty of potential and will be a star of the future with a bit more experience. In a massive effort Su’A played the full 80 minutes of his debut. He was made an instant target in defence but did have plenty of support from senior teammates and was hardly left alone to take on the opposition. Considering how heavily he was targeted, he did a solid job to only miss two tackles. The 18-year-old was much stronger in attack. He showed plenty of exciting footwork and ran hard at the line. Jai Arrow In his second NRL game, Arrow made an instant impact off the bench 20 minutes in. He gave the forward pack a much-needed energy boost with many of their regular first-graders left running on empty. Arrow was confident in defence, making six strong tackles in his first five minutes. He also averaged 10m a run for his first three hit-ups. However, he barely made an impact in the second half. He only made four tackles with limited game time. Herman Ese’ese The monster prop did not get much of a chance to make an impression after coming on in the 55th minute. He hardly appeared in defence through the middle, making just three tackles in his first 10 minutes. However, one of those was a great try-saver on Tim Simona. He was also unable to rack up any great mileage in attack but will be better for the experience. Tevita Pangai Jnr The former Raiders under-20s star sure knows how to catch your attention. Pangai Jnr made his NRL debut with only five minutes left on the clock in the first half but was a standout in every one of those minutes. He ran straight on to the field to make a tackle and let the Tigers know he had arrived. He continued this impact into the second half. He was unlucky to get penalised for a late shot in the 44th minute but did not let that take any of the sting out of his tackles. He also came close to scoring in the 50th minute but was held up. However, it probably will not be long until he gets a first-grade try with the way he storms at the line. http://www.couriermail.com.au/sport/nrl/rookie-watch-how-broncos-young-guns-fared-against-wests-tigers/news-story/31d5bc4a8723baecb7597f1dfde5e4a5 What does everyone else think?
