City squad

Lachlan Coote, Anthony Minichiello, Beau Champion, Chris Lawrence, Michael Jennings, Braith Anasta, Trent Hodkinson, Bryce Gibbs, Robbie Farah (c), Keith Galloway, Trent Waterhouse, Mark Minichiello, Luke O'Donnell, Kris Keating, Tim Mannah, Tim Grant, Ryan Hoffman

Country squad

Josh Dugan, Michael Robertson, Jamal Idris, Timana Tahu, Luke Burt, Greg Bird, Brett Kimmorley (c), Kade Snowden, Michael Ennis, Brett White, Ben Creagh, Glenn Stewart, Anthony Laffranchi, Todd Carney, Tom Learoyd-Lahrs, Willie Mason, Dean Young

Some very intresting decisions.

No hindmarsh.
No Matt Cooper?! How has this happened, he is in stellar form
No campese, have they totally given up on him?
No soward
Carney on the bench. Must be at long odds to make the NSW squad after his poor effort in the halves today and not even being able to crack the top 13 for country

Cooper has a calf strain which he picked up against Cronulla. Thats why he isnt there...he may even have been playing for Australia if he didnt. Would have been there over Idris I suspect in the country team

are u being sarcastic about soward or do u really think he will make it?!

I hope Soward makes it into the NSW side. Carnage will ensue as he gets eaten alive.

Bird will be the certainty at 5/8, NSW have signaled pretty early they will go back to the bruise brothers combo.

that selection would suit Qld IMO>

Yeah maybe beads, but if you remember last time they were selected together they pretty well did what they wanted in the tackles. It could make for a bit of fire works in the first game.

The selection of Luke O'Donnell for City never ceases to amuse me...I didn't realise I must be a born and bred city person myself given we are both from Ulladulla...

Drove through ully dooly yesterday actually.

On topic, that Country side looks awesome. I'm unique in that I'm the only guy in the world that gets excited about this game, and as such I'll be wearing my Country jersey to the Test match on Friday.
I'm not a fan of Greg Bird at 6 in any team, but with Todd Carney on the bench, I can see it working well. Forwards run at the halves all night, as they tend to do, trying to tire them out, and then when they've tired THEMSELVES out late in each half, Todd comes on at pivot and just runs around them.

But despite his selection at five-eighth, Bird remains an unlikely candidate for a start as NSW pivot according to Country coach and Blues selector Laurie Daley.

"Possibly but I wouldn't have thought so," Daley said when asked if Bird was being viewed as a potential Blues five-eighth.

"I would think that Carney would play a lot more time at five-eighth than Greg Bird.

Doesnt sound like it mate.

Either way, i would LOVE them to pick soward. The first half of this season he was missing, and there is no way he will handle origin. He will absolutely smashed in the first set, and will be hiding behind gallen for the rest of the match

LOLz if Gibbs is a better prop than Luke Douglas I'm not here. Douglas is awesome. Unless he's considered automatic for Blues?

Judging by this team and the blues in the Aus. team, Qld 5 in a row.

Carney deserves to be on the bench, both Dugan and Coote have pipped him in the Fullback department this year.

Has Kimmorley been better though?

I know the whole size argument in origin has been misguided since Langer... but I think Soward is just too small for Origin... esp against this QLD side...

GI vs Soward?... 0_o

Size isn't the problem, Soward isn't up to Origin football. Has he ever snatched victory from the jaws of defeat for the Dragons.

once, when he faked getting held out of a play and the bulldogs lost a try.. lol
