I have misgivings about Bennett's return, and I think you'd be foolish not to. Let's not forget: 1. He left for a reason. It wasn't just that he and Bruno hated eachother, Bennett himself was becoming stale. All the criticisms we've had of Griffin (poor selections, poor recruitment, persevering with underperforming players because of loyalty, poor game plan) applied to Bennett. 2. There's no doubt he left both the Dragons and Knights in a worse position than when he arrived. He rolls in, sets up Wayne's World, and then rolls out leaving nothing behind. My hope is that the suggestion Bennett will retire from coaching in 2017 and become the director of coaching at the Broncos may alleviate that concern - he'll establish a structure and want to oversee it, rather than just up and leave. 3. He's demanding of the club. It's his way or the highway. And when you have that attitude you do step on people. Will he create more friction? Will we be better off for it? His attitude already shows in the way he "negotiated" his return. He's already got his way behind the back of the CEO. Will he get along with and work with Paul White? 4. He's 64. He's not going to bring anything "new" to the table unless he's prepared to trust in young assistants like Walters. He's capable of doing that, but will he? 5. His relationship with the media. Let's face it, it's crap. I know why he does that, but again will that cause problems for a club that's already under more media scrutiny than any other in the NRL? Sacking Griffin was the right call. But I'm uneasy about the return of Bennett. I'm hopeful and will support him, but I do have my doubts.
