This is certainly, albeit not surprisingly, the most dividing thread I have seen on this forum in the short time I have been a member. It almost resembles a parliament with a number of people strongly sitting on the left or right and a few people in the middle trying to make the whole discussion work! I can see points on both sides but a lot of what is being said here is purely either conjecture or a precursor to an 'I told you so' next year, or some watered down version of one. My main hope is that this doesn't dilute the staunch support for the Broncos I've always come to expect on this forum as well as at the games (the ones I can get to living in NSW). We've all been through hard times with all three coaches and through some bloody exciting times under two of them. The win vs St George in 2011 was unforgettable and I'll always know where I was when I saw that pearler of a field goal. That being said I think the vast majority of us wanted something big to change, whether that was the coach, players, staff, board members or personnel. We were never going to change all of those, but had to change something. We did get Peter Nolan and Alex Corvo which from general opinion both seem to be well supported decisions. We did recruit in the off season but this has been less widely supported as the season has progressed. We eventually changed the player filling our most revered role of 5/8...this is still up in the air as to whether Barba can add enough value to that position though the added certainty at the back is welcomed. And we eventually decided to change our coach next year. All in all I think the Broncos have been moving in the right direction with an expected dose of uncertainty in some decisions made due to having a need to fill a gap and having a limited market to shop in. I didn't have strong opinions on who was better in a Bennett vs Griffin match up prior to this announcement (although I did have an opinion which blended with the general sentiment on here) but I do know that I will meet 2015 with a strong sense of optimism which I hope runs through the playing squad as well. By the same token I'll look forward to every game for the rest of this year even if we end up mathematically out of contention to make the eight. It's much easier to criticise from the sideline or the couch but despite some of the failed efforts I think this squad is showing some guts in a rough time for the club. Let's hope it gives us some extra grit next week, next month and next year and we can finally hold our heads high with a run deep into the finals either this year or in one very soon.
