Who replaces Paul White? Honestly, I think this won't be much of an issue if they get someone with a good business mind based around contracts. The club is strong enough to take care of itself as long as the public connection is maintained and hopefully strengthened. Who is coach? Keep Seibold as head coach, but seek out a strong full-time defensive and attacking coaches (Cam Smith would be good here and give him a good platform for moving into a coaching role). In this way the division of labour can be handled and the focus should be brought into one by Seibold. I would also look to employ a sports psychologist at intermittent points of the season. Who are you bringing in for the money the club now has from the Fifita-fail and Boyd's retirement? Honestly, I think our talent pool is strong right now. Our problem is maintaining structure even with disruption. I was excited when Seibold spoke about rotating the team because I hoped it would mean that training would focus on everyone knowing everyone else's roles and bringing in a stronger structure such as we see with the Storm. (This is why Melbourne players generally look good at the storm but average everywhere else). My belief is that we should seek to install something more of a democratic workplace where the team decides who deserves the pay but most everyone is on a similar contract. This brings equality, incentives, accountability and a team mentality. Everyone is in the same boat and pulling together. Perhaps increased salaries based on experience, which would be linked to a mentorship program. If you want to get creative, what are you doing with Milf's or Bird's money? Honestly, I think these long-term high pay contracts have ruined the game more than our club. I would not be looking to sign big name players with the current attitude at the club. I would seek out fighters. Guys who work and have been good despite never getting huge paychecks. Right now we have Te'o, Lodge and Carrigan, whom I believe lead with this mentality. There are also boys who are trying and getting there too like Niu and Farnworth and Flegler (despite his recent mistakes I have heard he does extras to improve himself) What else is needed? What we need now is direction and mental fortitude. Defensively we need to consistently maintain line speed and cohesiveness. In the Storm, Manly and Bulldogs games we had it and lost it. Attack will come. We have the talent. We just need to get the upper hand defensively first. We can't let the heads drop after a few bad calls or bombed tries. What we need is regimented training. These guys need to be drilled, focussed and hardened and they will be a force. Get a drill sergeant in there and have them locked in and they will absolutely dominate. Right now, this is their melting pot. They are at the perfect time and place to be moulded into a unit. They have the talent, otherwise they would never have made it to first grade. Give them direction, focus, a belief structure and aim them at a target. Who are you bringing in/Who are you re-signing? All of our young talent. I worry about Milford, I think he is not mentally in the right place. I'm glad Boyd is going. Although he trying, I get the impression he's having a toxic effect on the team. I think I would let anyone go who wouldn't buy into the team philosophy. I would look to use this youth as an opportunity to recruit back some of the other young guys who have chased the money but have FOMO on being part of something special. These guys have the potential to play some awesome, exciting, fun and enjoyable football. Once they click and when they're drilled they will be world beaters.
