Why do we have 4 byes this round? eusa_think

cos of the ANZAC test. We have them in origin weeks too. I guess its to lessen the load for rep players and their teams.

But the Anzac test is not this week eusa_think

And the question is why have byes when there's an even amount of teams?

I'd say it would just be because of the workload of the players. A lot of players have spoken out over the last few years about how the season is too long. It could also have something to do with the long-term player stamina and to avoid burn-outs on the players with rep duties etc.

Wouldn't it be best to use these over the rep weeks?

You think 4 teams having the bye this week is bad! Try next week when there is 6 teams having one [icon_lol1. [icon_lol1. [icon_lol1. No wonder why fantasy leagues arent running over the next 3 weeks [icon_lol1. [icon_razz1

Frank wishes he only had to work 26 days a year and workout the the other days. Anyone saying that Football players have a heavy workload obviously doesnt work 9-5 every day for 48 weeks a year, year in year out.

Does Frank also wish he had his head bashed in on those work days as footballers do?

Maybe Frank enjoys it being a tank and all, but I don't think I'd like to get my head bashed in week after week, suffer bad injuries, have arthritis for the rest of my life. Not saying they have it as tough as the bloke who picks up my garbage at 5am in the morning trying to feed his family, but it's still not a job I'd like to have.

teams like the sharks have 2 weeks off in a row. doesnt seem too fair imo.

Broncos could do with 2 weeks off now fix up all the injuries.

It'd be more to do with the general bruising, physical nature of the game which would really impact on their bodies more than anything else... definitely more so than the mental strain that they would go through imo.

As someone who works 6 days (up to 75 hours) per week, it's easy enough for me to say that footballers have it damn good. Then again, I don't slam my body from brick wall to brick wall each weekend.

u also dont get $250 K a year

Nothing to do with it imo.

Earning $250k/year doesn't magically make you able to endure more physical punishment than any other person.

Franks inner person is not the biggest bloke, far from it, but even he would gladly get knocked around on the wing for 80 minutes a week for $250k+ a year. when all these guys do is train and bulk up for 6 days a week then yes it does mean they can handle the battering easier.

They can definitely handle it "easier" than the average person. Not saying it still wouldn't be as painful as **** for them, particularly since those that are colliding with them 40-odd times a match also spend six days a week training and bulking up.

All these guys do? What about the injuries they sustain, some of them lifelong? What about the fact that most can't even go out on a Saturday night and have a good time without someone trying to stir sh!t? What about the fact that their careers are over in 10 or so years and most of them don't have higher education and don't have a lot to fall back on? Of course some are going to think it's the good life, but to be honest I don't envy them.

And let's not forget that they've been training for this from the time they were about 7 years old.

I don't really have a problem with established first graders getting $250K a year. I do think that $300K should be the max any sportsman in Australia earns in salary however. But that's a personal opinion.

It is a huge amount.

But then again, hardly any of these guys would play for longer than 10 years. For many, it will be by far the most they earn in their entire lives. I may only pull in $60-70k, but at least I can pretty much guarantee my income will only go up, and I've got at least another 40 years left in me [icon_lol1.
