If you wanted any further confirmation of NRL bias, look no further. Imagine if the Rorters, Storm, Penriff etc had landed Haas, like the Broncos have, on a deal that most think is reasonable (in the clubs favour). The media would be applauding the culture of those clubs, their recruitment/board etc for being able to retain talent for ‘unders’ or in this case market value... There’d be no further discussions/articles/speculation. Its amazing that we are even having such discussions around Haas. He is contracted until 2024 ffs. We took a punt on him many years ago now. We gave him (at the time) a rather lengthy contract, that was on big money for someone who wasn’t proven at this level. Now if you look at some other players, lets take Paps at the Storm for instance, he is probably on unders and that is because Melbourne seem To be able to do that. Much like the Roosters have and continually do. Cronk anyone? But the Broncos? Oh no, that’s not allowed. It’s absolute BS. From here, do we now just now say player x is playing well, he signed a contract 2yrs ago, but I think he is now worth x amount more, start ringing every media outlet in Australia and see if we can get him out of his contract? The NRL no doubt need to clean this the **** up. We had Milford stinking it up for many years on a million dollars. We got nothing out of that other then a fucked cap and lessons learnt. We FINALLY do some smart business/recruiting with Haas and its somehow being flipped upside down and making the Broncos look like the bad guys. This is a win/win for the media, no doubt. They get to either write stories on the Broncos having to pay overs to retain Haas or they get to write articles saying that the Broncos are broken because Haas wants out/can’t keep players blah blah. Personally, I’d love nothing more then DD or Ikin to front 360 tonight and hose all this down. Make It very clear there will be no early release, let the world know we aren’t backing down on this one and if need be, Haas can sit in cup. Sure it would be very reactive by the club, but I‘d love to see it.
