Is it not possible that after making that true statement in his mind, circumstances changed? Such as, his best mate who he may have been expecting to stay and play with was signed by the Cowboys. This may have influenced him to consider moving on himself. Melboure could have increased their offer to him making him rethink his decision to stay. Melbourne could have sweetened the deal in some other way. Perhaps his manager got in his ear and persuaded him that it was better for his career development to go to Melbourne under Bellamy and their systems rather than stay in our chaos. Or it could be that like a lot of 19/20 year olds, he simply changed his mind. So are you going to remain all bent out of shape if in fact he did not lie but simply had a change of heart? In terms of the contribution to the wooden spoon, it seems somewhat unusual (if not weird) to be fixated on a 19/20 year old rookie winger, as opposed to the parties really responsible, that is, the club management and the idiot they hired as a coach.
