I feel you’ve gone off on a bit of a rant without really understanding what you’re replying to. As I said, you made good points and I don’t really have a problem with what we are doing, but still, letting players go, mid season, without replacing them leaves us exposed to unnecessary risk. All these youngsters you mention may end up being the goods, and some are already proving to be. But the reality is, many won’t and in the meantime, we have to have some players who are ready to play now in the event we lose a player or two here or there. It seems you also don’t recognise that a lot of the players you’ve mentioned we literally cannot play as they’re either too young or not in our top 30. I could be wrong, but my understanding is that we have to apply for special consideration to get them in. I also believe such application is permitted through unexpected injury or other extenuating circumstances, not simply letting players move to other clubs. As I said, I could be wrong, but if I’m not, then what happens? Another point I think you may be missing is letting players go mid season is shortsighted on our behalf as they can literally line up against us this season - and we all know how well ex-Broncos, particularly those who we deemed not good enough, tend to play against us. But if none of that drives home my point, maybe this will. Very few other teams let players go without getting something in return. The Storm rarely do, neither do the Roosters. Even this week, Bennett has said Gagai can go if he wants, at the end of the season. We need to stop being maters and do what’s right for the club sometimes instead of what might be right for the player. All that said, getting rid of Roberts was absolutely right. He was toxic to the playing group, but I don’t think Kodi would have been.
