POST GAME Round 19 - Rabbitohs vs Broncos

Boyd - Is super consistent these days and just so level headed, he has come a long way and is now a very important cog in our plays. Excellent game. 8.5
Oates - What a star, was close to best player on field tonight, has become pretty consistent when not injured. 9
Kahu - Well, if you going to get injured, come back early and make it worse, good goal-kicking though. 4
Roberts - Was on fire and it was clear the team has come up with a way to utilise him during the bye. 8.5
Maranta - Like others, I used to defend this kid but he has gone backwards somehow. Shocker. 2
Milford - As mentioned, defense was rock-solid, attack spluttered. Weird game. 6
McGuire - Phenomenal as always and an absolute consistent gem. 8.5
Macca - He is the best we have at 9, unfortunately. Copped a rightful spray from Hunt, had his blood knocked out of him and tackled his heart out as always. 5
Blair - Storm Teddy was back tonight, great game. 8
Glenn - Smashed one beautiful tackle, ran good lines and didn't put a foot wrong. 7
Thaiday - He was there at times and not there others, aside from dropping the ball, barely noticed. 5
Arrow - Got his first start and did not do anything wrong, showed some of those Parkeresque workaholic tendencies which we all know and love. 7

Wallace - Why was he wearing headgear? Solid but not as spectacular as he has been of late. By no means bad at all. 7
Joffa - Worked hard, tackled hard and ran like the wind...was in his face. He's re-found his mojo. 8
Ese'ese - He was there because I noticed him once or twice. 5
Pangai Jnr - He played right? I just honestly didn't notice him, the bench kind of all rolled into one at times. 6

you forgot Hunt

One of those Maranta missed try is on Roberts. I can't go blaming Reed for drawing the defense to his winger all the time and let Roberts off the hook for this one. Roberts could have passed the ball straight away while Maranta was unopposed or he could have drawn the defense AWAY from Maranta. He tried to go himself and then offloaded to Maranta when there were no options left.

it was almost Steve Michaels-esque where he would almost run out and then pass to the winger who had no room.

Hope your joking. His the only player that could have bombed that try in the second half. Twice Roberts got on the outside of the winger opening up a gap in the inside and maranta runs beside him. Just before halftime gets pushed out.

Yeah, his his own worst enemy at times. He tries hard, but his just not up to the standard we need from a Winger, particularly when his outside Roberts whose one of the fastest players in the comp. Still, your only as good as you're last game and I'm sure he'll be playing again next week, so he gets another chance.

Tonight was exactly what the doctor ordered.

A commanding 30-10, the first win outside of Suncorp since Round 5 and only the second win outside of Queensland since Round 1.

The quality of the opposition certainly helped. Souths minus Inglis and Reynolds couldn't sustain any pressure and played into the Broncos hands.

Shout out to the Origin players. Boyd, McGuire, Oates and Thaiday played well, providing the side with the class that has eluded them of late. It rubbed off on others and I thought the majority pitched in.

Still a long way to go, but they took several positive steps tonight.

The only negative was the injury to Jordan Kahu. At this point, I'm just as frustrated for him as he is. That left centre position appears to be cursed this season and it has really hampered the Broncos.

Is it safe to say that locky should be down at red hill tutoring hunt and milf for the rest of the season?

Thaiday played well? Which game was this?

The one where he prevented the opposition from scoring down his edge.

It hasn't happened in awhile and backing up from Origin, he played his role as well as anyone.

Jai Arrow - 15 Runs, 142m, 34 Tackles, 0 Missed.

Put a frame around it, Unbreakable.

Thaiday had a few arm grabbing moments and missed a tackle and made a few schoolboy errors with the ball in hand. Didn't notice him give a penalty away this week, which is some improvement.

He ran okay and tackled okay otherwise, so he deserves a pass mark I suppose.

But as an Origin 'star' you scratch your head and wonder why more and more lately.

Useless, he didn't make 10+ metres a run.

Thought Jai did okay. Workrate good. Thaiday wasnt great imo. He was average especially for his experience and calibre

Thaiday:

For 73 minutes: 11 runs, 89m, 31 tackles, 2 offloads, 1 missed, 1 error.

Out of interest - Blair:

80 minutes played for 16 runs, 155m, 30 tackles, 4 missed tackles.

Next week will be a test, but the boys need to dispatch the Panthers if we're serious about pushing into the top 4/ contending in the finals. The dogs are honestly punching above their weight big league, so that fourth spot is open if we're good enough.

EDIT: we need an actual centre who can play out the game, even if that man is Reed (god forbid). When was the last game that we got through a game without injury forcing a player off?

Yep, he doesn't fit the criteria.

He can't be in the team anymore. We need to drop him and bring in someone that will make 10+ metres each run.

Would have been 50 if seve played.
Honestly the biggest individual difference I noticed was Blair's form, followed by Milford's defense and oates form, back to start of year form.
